Does The Wix SEO Hero Contest Represent True Skill?

February 25, 2017 by Thru Web

The much publicized contest by Wix will shortly draw to a close.

To recap, the rules of the competition, are to basically abide by the Google search terms and conditions, to be in English, to have registered their domain after the 16th November and to be entered with the moderator, within the qualifying period – which has now elapsed.

There were also some other conditions attached to the types of domain which would and would not be permitted to enter.

So does the Wix SEO hero contest represent a true skill in its entrants? Well, at the very least, it requires attention to detail – the rules are quite detailed and must be followed to the letter. Also, it requires its participants have a degree of patience.

This is a competition which had to be entered many months prior to the inevitable conclusion – four months earlier to be precise.

However, in the opinions of this SEO hero, they may not be bad places to start looking for a search engine optimisation company in south wales or long island seo company from.

As all SEO professionals will tell you including the guy from SEOHeroMedia.com, SEO is a marathon and not a sprint and so maybe it is only fitting that this SEO hero competition should be similarly judged.

Will there be cheating? Of course there will be. Back in the olden days of SEO competitions there was always sharp practices and the inevitable black or grey hat shenanigans. We wouldn’t expect any less.

But we would also suggest that Wix ought to be the masters of rooting them out and if not, so should Google.

Perhaps, one might assume, persons who cheat or at least employ a creative reading of the rules, do not deserve to win.

Playing devil’s advocate for one moment, seoheromedia.com must ask why this is.

Yes, sure, this is a tough challenge in itself. Being able to set up a domain, which is not as aged as all that (from November 16th – December 16th) will make it difficult and anything that goes into competition with a giant like Wix will not be easy.

But, once again, this is what we are all up against when we are promoting our clients – or our own – websites, every day in the world being a real life SEO hero.

In other words, if we, as professionals, cannot handle doing this, then perhaps we should not really be in the business in the first place.

And also, yes, once more, there is bound to be cheating. Like we also said, this should not necessarily be deemed ‘unfair’ by competitors.

The aim of the game is merely to get to the top of the tree and be declared a search engine optimization winner.

In some ways, the competition organizers have made it a little easier, they have declared the exact times in which they will be performing their searches, in judgement!

As we have stated, SEO is not a simple competition, with one finish line. It is a continuous race, which must be slogged away at.

And frankly if a competitor has been able to fool both consummate professionals like Wix and the Google search engines, don’t they deserve their success as much as someone who has played by the rules?

Whether you agree, is up to you.

But of course, this SEO hero does not advocate cheating!
